Gazprom is a major gas company in the world, a leader of the global energy market. Gazprom possesses the richest natural gas reserves in the world. Its share of world gas reserves comprises 17% and of Russian – 60%. Gazprom accounts for close to 20% of global and 85% of Russian gas production. Gazprom activity guidelines comprise geological prospecting, production, transportation, processing, storage and sales of natural gas, gas condensate and oil. Gazprom is actively integrating electric power engineering into its business activities. The company is developing the resource base and increasing production, and implements large-scale gas transportation projects aimed to promote reliability of natural gas supplies to traditional consumers and access to new markets.
Founded in Paris, 1924 the World Chess Federation (Federation Internationale des Echecs, known as FIDE from its French acronym) was recognized by the International Olympic Committee as an International Sports Federation in 1999.
With 164 member federations, FIDE is among the biggest sports organisations in the world, very proud of over forty official championships for youngsters, men, women and seniors.
The 20th June 1991 was the beginning of a big challenge for the City of Bonn: at this memorable date, the German Parliament decided with a narrow majority to transfer its seat and the core functions of the government to Berlin. This vote was implemented by the Berlin-Bonn Act in 1994. It determined a fair division of labour between the two cities according five political fields to Bonn. A compensation agreement amounting to 1,43 Billion Euro was granted to the city and the surrounding region in order to face the structural change.
In the meantime, based on these solid foundations, the vision of the early nineties has become an acknowledged reality: the new profile of Bonn.
In 1992 the Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany was founded as an institution for changing exhibitions and has since then offered a varied programme of international significance. During the first ten years over 100 exhibitions have been organized in the areas of art, cultural history, science and technology. An exhibition on the Bronze Age is just as suited to be presented here as a retrospective on a contemporary artist. Exhibitions on architecture, design, photography are offered to the public just as those on genetic engineering or the weather.
As head organisation of chess in Germany the German Chess Federation (DSB) is member of the German Sports Federation as well as, since 1926, of the World Chess Federation FIDE (Fédération Internationale des Echecs). With its approximately 97,000 members that are distributed to 2,700 clubs the German Chess Federation is one of the biggest in the world. Besides the state associations it also comprises the German Chess Federation for Blind People, the Association for Problem Chess "Schwalbe" as well as the German Federation for Correspondence Chess.
Founded in 1985, Schach Niggemann has continously expanded. Originally a supplier of chess computers only, the company developed to an all-round dealer focussing also on chess books, -material and –software with the sidelines Go, Backgammon and Bridge.
